The Archetype Series

From  the Greek philosopher Plato (4thc BC) to Carl Jung (20th c) to  Caroline Myss (20th-21st c), the concept of the archetype as a pattern or template of personality has continued to evolve into an effective body of knowledge concerning the nature and origin of human personalities and of human choice. In the paradigm of archetypes, the reasons we make our life choices for better or worse lie in the  energetic templates or universal patterns from which our individual personalities, and hence our choices, emerge. The Archetype courses at StoneWind allow you to understand and apply the central principles of archetypes to your own life so you can  shine a light on the hidden drivers within that are controlling your choices, the quality of your life experiences, and hence quality of your health.

Archetype Studies

Archetypes

Why are you drawn to do the things you do, to accept this job over that one, to work hard to pursue a specific career, sometimes against the advice of others? Do you feel driven to learn some things more than others? And what draws you to certain people while you barely notice others? What emotions and needs are driving your life choices? And where do those emotions and needs come from? In short, are you really in control of your life or are hidden drivers that you have never examined calling the shots?

Archetypes, or  our interacting patterns of personality, are the hidden drivers that control every aspect of our lives on a day to day, moment to moment basis.  To take control of our lives we must come to understand the energetic patterns that underlie everything we do,  learn how they work in our favor as well as against us, and in so doing become empowered to be more fully who we are. And you are more than just one thing, you have more than one archetype controlling your life.

Archetypes 101 is designed to help students understand in general terms:
(a) what archetypes actually are,
(b) how to recognize them in others and in ourselves,
(c) how they operate in everyone’s daily life to direct our choices and to draw people, situations, and events to us.

In personal terms, the course provides the skills to:
(a)  identify the specific archetypes that are driving each one individually,
(b) recognize how those personal archetypes are manifesting in our lives on a day to day basis,
(c) identify which ones may be harmful or disruptive, and
(d) take control of the influence these energetic patterns have over us.

With more complete understanding of your personal archetypes you will be able
to take control of
your life at an ever more conscious level.

Archetypes 101 helped you develop a thorough understanding of your unique archetype combination and how those patterns of personality are operating in daily synergy to direct your life. Now you are ready to understand and then control your Shadow Archetypes.

If you have found yourself driven by spur of the moment decisions or sudden emotions to do things that are harmful at some level to yourself and others, then wonder later, “why did I do that?” then you have seen one or more of your  Shadow Archetypes in action. But which of your archetypes have shadows? And where do the shadow sides come from? Do all of your archetypes have shadow sides, and how can you tell? But most importantly how do you control the Shadow Archetypes?

The concept of the Shadow Archetype is an important one to understand, but even more important is to recognize the shadow side of  your personal archetypes and then develop the ability to control these harmful aspects, these enemies within.    In Jungian psychology, the “shadow”, “Id”, or “shadow aspect of an archetype”  refers to an unconscious aspect of our personalities that our conscious mind does not recognize and therefore cannot deal with.   No doubt there is a  potentially dark side in our unconscious  minds, but the Shadow Archetypes we will examine in this course do not have to remain “unconscious;” rather, the shadows examined here are aspects of the personal archetypes we  identified in Archetypes 101 that have real and visible consequences in our daily lives, that create problems we can now identify more clearly. Once we recognize the source of some of our decisions, of our reactions to people and events, then there are energetic methods with which to take better control of our impulsive responses and our shadow drivers.

This course shows you how to identify your Shadow Archetypes and how to apply easy to learn techniques
that let you decide what needs to be controlled and then how and when to do so.

Archetypes 201

“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors
for you where there were only walls.”
. . . Joseph Campbell

Instinctively we know if we ask core questions, the answers will bring profound change. We also know change is at best uncomfortable, at worst traumatic, so we do not ask the dangerous questions. We do not deliberately invite the forces of change into our lives. But for most of us, there comes a time when avoiding change either becomes impossible—or more painful than the decision to embrace it. If you have been living with the nagging feeling there is some task undone, something waiting, a path you must find and walk—something you must be or do before your life is done—or if circumstances have upended your old life plan, it is time to step into your power and become your own Map Maker.

But where do you begin? How do you find your Soul’s Work? How long will it take? Where do you start? What will it cost? How do you know when you’ve found it? Why is it so hard? Most likely nothing in your life to date has prepared you to answer these questions. Soul Work is not defined in terms of an education, a job, a place, a person, a profession, not even a religion. The opening to your Soul Work lies hidden in the unexplored garden of your psyche and in your archetypal patterns where all the pieces of your life lie randomly scattered about. The answers are in the most difficult of all places to access. The answers are within.

The Map Maker’s Journey is designed to help you combine concepts of your  personal archetypes into a practical assessment of where you really want to go, why you want to go there–and how to do it. And of course to answer the infrequently asked question: what will it cost me to follow my dream? (hint:  it’s  not about money)
